US Triestina Calcio 1918 has announced that it has entrusted the role of first team coach to Roberto Bordin until 30 June 2024, with the option of extension in the event of promotion to Serie B.
Bordin returns to Trieste after playing with the halberd shirt in the 1998 season/ 99 in Serie C2 and having managed the first team for the last seven rounds of the 2015/16 season in Serie D. In a 21-year career, Bordin made over 300 appearances in Serie A with the shirts of Cesena, Atalanta and Napoli, before retiring in 2005 Bordin began his coaching career in the role of assistant in the first team, being part of Andrea Mandorlini's staff first at CFRCluj, where he won the Championship and the Romanian Cup in 2009/10, then at Hellas Verona, with whom he obtained two consecutive promotions from Serie C to Serie A in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons.
Bordin's first experience as coach of the first team was a brief period in Trieste, before moving on to lead Sheriff Tiraspol, winning the Super Liga twice and the Moldovan Cup twice, as well as the Azerbaijani team Neftci Bak and the Moldovan national team.
Bordin's deputy will be Marco Veronese, the athletic trainer Andrea Vezzù, the goalkeeping trainer Antonio Macrì and the match analyst Mirko Panico.
The new coach will be presented to the press tomorrow at 12:00 in the press room of the Rocco Stadium.
