"The assembly decided to start a process to evaluate organizational solutions of greater autonomy similar to the Premier League model".

These are the words with which the president of the Lega Serie A, Lorenzo Casini, put on the table the threat of the top division clubs to split from the FIGC.

A topic that has often been raised as a specter, but never with the strength and unanimity seen today among all societies.

Just over a month before the extraordinary federal assembly of March 11, Serie A is putting on the table the desire to have greater decision-making autonomy, even if for now "it is premature to talk about dividing".

"The federal system as it is and the organizational model where Serie A is located are not adequate to achieve many objectives that are in the document" on the reforms that Serie A presented in December 2022 and which it is now updating, continued Casini .

"Currently the system does not recognize that Serie A has the autonomy and decision-making weight that it should have compared to the economic weight - he added -.

It is not so much a question of an additional councilor, but it is a question of moving towards a model that ensures greater decision-making autonomy of Serie A on what concerns Serie A.

The current organizational system is not adequate to allow us to have the role we deserve."

Casini then slows down: "Leaving the FIGC? It's all premature. The clubs have unanimously decided to go towards this further path, leaving is a topic too far ahead."

While waiting for the clash at the federal level, the Lega Serie A continues its work on commercial issues.

Today the new partnership with Enilive was announced, which from next season will be the title sponsor of the championship in an agreement worth 22 million per year.

Thus ends the relationship with Tim, one of the longest-running sponsorships in the history of Italian football.

"As Lega Serie A we would like to thank Tim for a 25-year collaboration which has allowed Serie A to grow and bring football more and more into the homes of Italians", explained Casini.

Furthermore, Trenitalia's proposal was also accepted, with Frecciarossa remaining title sponsor of the Italian Cup for another three years.

Both votes on sponsors passed the meeting with unanimity from the 20 companies.
