A journey that will focus on sport and gender equality will start from Cortina on 10 February.
The initiative is promoted by
Soroptimist International Italia
and will cross Italy to arrive in Milan at the end of 2025.
We start from Veneto also because it is the European Region of Sport 2024.

for the rights of athletes and women's sport and the promotion of the "
Ethical charter for overcoming gender gaps and discrimination in sport
" with
100 Women against stereotypes for sport,
a project developed by the
Bracco Foundation
born from
Giulia
(United Free Independent Journalists) from the
Pavia Observatory
and
Female Toponymy
.
The initiative also falls on the centenary of the 12th edition of the
Giro d'Italia which started from Milan in 1924, in which Alfonsina Strada
, the only woman in the history of the Giro to have competed with her male colleagues, and for which on 8 March 2024 we it will be the issue by the Italian Post Office, precisely at the request of the Soroptimist, of a commemorative stamp.
"Stories of yesterday - concludes Macchi - to enhance the female figures of sport, also with interventions in secondary schools of female athletes as models who are a source of inspiration for the new generations".

Soroptimist is a global organization of women engaged in professional and managerial activities that promotes the full realization of equal opportunities and human rights and which has included the "Women and Sport" project among its programmatic lines for the two-year period 2024 - 2025.
In Italy it has 163 clubs for a total of over 5,000 members.
The workshops will also include interventions dedicated to sport and media, sport and rights, Olympic truce and human rights, as well as a focus on the
Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics.
