Lost penguin brought to safety by ground staff

Instead of taking off, passengers and crew had to wait patiently while airport ground staff brought the curious penguin to safety.
After being rescued, the little man wearing a tailcoat had to cool down first.
Jack Howarth, Wildlife Officer at Wellington Airport, reported the unusual event: "Our runway sensors showed 50 degrees, so no wonder he wasn't particularly happy." The penguin, estimated to be six weeks old, had obviously fledged and had fledged possibly lost on his way home.

Zoo nurtures young penguin and releases him again
After his rescue, the penguin was taken to Wellington Zoo, where he was able to rest and is now being cared for.
