"We are at a significant crossroads, this is perhaps the first time that the government ministries have presented here a professional and orderly plan, made in cooperation, to deal with a threat that for us is tangible and immediate, and not airy," announced the CEO of the Governmental Authority for Urban Renewal, Elazar Bamberger, while presenting the plan The government's plan for urban renewal in cities with a high seismic risk, which is being implemented these days, in the discussion on the country's preparedness for earthquakes that took place today (February 6) in the Knesset's State Audit Committee.
Bamberger went on to say that "we brought a comprehensive work plan, with the work of planning the complexes as part of it already underway.
The implementation of the entire plan will provide a solution for the ten local authorities that were defined as having an increased seismic risk.

According to Bamberger, "We are in a different world in 2024, and our focus is broad renewal, within the framework of construction evacuation complexes. Our planning teams performed a large-scale mapping work that determined which buildings are intended for reinforcement only, and which for construction evacuation. The findings of the mapping revealed 110 complexes suitable for construction evacuation , and in 25 of them we are already carrying out detailed planning today."
At the end of the discussion, Bamberger concluded by saying that "this need is burning, it means human lives, and the solution that the government will provide requires certainty and consistency, that is, a government decision that will ensure a multi-year allocation of resources. The government subsidy of the complexes will bring the private market to implement the projects, on realistic timetables."
