The savings on the electricity bill for customers of the gradual protection service (which from 1 July will replace the protected market for those who do not choose the free market) should be around 73 euros per year per user, based on current data, which however could change in 5 months.
Arera, the public energy authority, made this known in a statement.
"The definitive economic conditions of the gradual protection service, the same throughout Italy, can only be defined and made known near the transition to the new service, in the month of June - writes Arera -. These economic conditions include the weighted average of the award of the auctions calculated taking into account the number of customers present in each area who are estimated to switch to the gradual protection service (expressed in euros/Pod/year, i.e. euros per user per year, ed.). They will then be updated annually, always in function of the number of customers supplied in the Gradual Protection Service of the various territorial areas".
"By way of example and not definitively - writes Arera -, based on the data currently available relating to the number of customers involved, and not on the actual ones as of June 2024" the reduction in the bill "would be equal to 73 euros per user per year ".

Domestic electricity customers who have already switched to the free market have the right to return to the enhanced protection service until the end of June 2024. To do so, you will need to contact the operator of the enhanced protection service in your municipality.
