A vulgar gesture by a Rayo Vallecano fan against Sevilla player Lucas Ocampos, committed during a match in La Liga last night, is once again throwing Spanish football into turmoil, which has long been grappling with episodes of racism and was overwhelmed months ago from the case of Jenni Hermoso.
The images of a young fan touching the Argentinian's backside with his finger as he is preparing to take a throw-in have gone around the web, provoking a harsh reaction from Sevilla and from the player himself, who was also good at refraining from reacting to hot, while the League has made it known that it will report the episode to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office as the person responsible, easily identified, is not yet an adult.
"These gestures and behaviors should not be allowed in our competition if we aspire to be the best league in the world," Sevilla said in a statement.
"I held back because I have two daughters and I hope it doesn't happen to them tomorrow - said Ocampos after the match - There is always a madman, not all fans are like that. What if it had happened in women's football?".
