Whether it is a new case of Fleximan, the first in Umbria and yet another at a national level, it is not yet possible to say but it is certainly not by chance that the speed camera installed along the Flaminia in the Spoleto area was demolished.

What happened and who is responsible for it will have to be established by the local police investigations.

The new case of damage to a speed detector on the road adds to those already recorded in various areas of the country.

In fact, today was the news that a speed camera recently installed by the Municipality of Palmi along state road 18 was set on fire.

Mayor Giuseppe Ranuccio defined the gesture as "brutal and uncivilized".

"The fire - he underlined again - will not stop the road safety project".

In Spoleto the speed camera had been positioned in a point considered delicate for traffic.

In fact, there the Flaminia narrows, going from four to two lanes, and the speed limit is 90 kilometers per hour.

The equipment was installed about two months ago and was active for four to six hours a day (chosen by an algorithm that made it practically impossible to know the switch-on times).

In a point known in Spoleto as the scene of several accidents and for a junction for local traffic.

The aluminum structure that supports the device was cut at the base.

For mayor Andrea Sisti "these are acts of vandalism that go against the interest of the community and which must not be emulated".

"Because - he added - we risk seeing damage to public goods of any kind. It was a coincidence that the structure did not end up in the middle of the road: otherwise it could have caused much more serious damage".

Damages that have now become known on social media as Fleximan-style actions but which are obviously the subject of investigations by the judiciary.

The two young people allegedly responsible for damaging a photored device (which photographs cars running red at traffic lights) installed in Ruffano in the Monaci area, on state road 476 which leads to Santa Maria di Leuca, were thus identified and reported in Puglia.

In Veneto, however, at least five road signs indicating the speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour, placed just under a day ago in Cappella Maggiore, in the province of Treviso, were knocked down with a tractor.

At least three incidents of speed cameras affected in the Ravenna area.

The last one at the end of January on the Faenza ring road, towards Forlì.

Another speed camera was knocked down in Veneto in Santo Stefano di Cadore (Belluno), along the same road where on 6 July a car driven by a German citizen hit a Venetian family, killing three people, including a two-year-old child.

The damage also affected the La Spezia area after that of Vezzano Ligure and Bolano.
