Stadium chants at Losi's funeral, farewell to 'Core de Roma' - Football

2024-02-06T17:33:41.350Z

Highlights: Giacomo Losi was the third player with the most appearances for the Giallorossi (behind only Totti and De Rossi). Losi, born in Soncino (province of Cremona), was immediately adopted by the capital as soon as he arrived there in 1954, aged nineteen. Several hundred people filled the parish in the neighborhood of the northern quadrant of the capital where the former champion lived. Many older fans admired Losi's exploits live: they were saddened by the farewell to a symbol of Rome and to football that no longer exists.

Banners, applause, stadium chants.

The final farewell to Giacomo Losi could only be like this: the city, which had elected him 'Core de Roma', wanted to pay homage to the Giacomo Losi flag that disappeared on Sunday.

And there were many who gathered in the afternoon in the Church of Santa Paola Roma alla Balduina, for the funeral of the Roma champion of the 1960s, the third player with the most appearances for the Giallorossi (behind only Totti and De Rossi).

Losi, born in Soncino (province of Cremona), was immediately adopted by the capital as soon as he arrived there in 1954, aged nineteen.

Several hundred people filled the parish in the neighborhood of the northern quadrant of the capital where the former champion lived, but many remained outside in the space in front, where banners were put up by Roma ultras.

Many flowers, many yellow and red, like those of the crown signed by As Roma.

The club itself was present with a small delegation, including four under 18 players. Many former players attended the function, from Giancarlo De Sisti, to Sebino Nela and Bruno Giordano.

Also present were several personalities from the world of entertainment (including Luca Zingaretti), whom Losi trained during his much-appreciated stint as coach of the Italian national actors team.

At the end of his career, 'Giacomino' (as he was affectionately called by everyone) also took care of the Nuova Valle Aurelia football school, and many of his former players came to pay homage to him.

The affection for 'Core de Roma' was felt at the end of the mass, with yet another very long applause and chants dedicated to him from the Giallorossi fans who, lighting the smoke bombs, waved a flag with his face.

Many older fans admired Losi's exploits live: they were saddened by the farewell to a symbol of Rome and to football that no longer exists.
