Singer Toby Keith died Monday evening at the age of 62, announced a message published Tuesday on his X account (formerly Twitter).

Keith “passed away peacefully…surrounded by his family.”
He fought his fight with grace and courage,” the message reads.
The singer, best known for his 1993 hit "Should've Been a Cowboy", announced in 2022 that he was suffering from stomach cancer, saying he needed time to "breathe, recover and relax" .
On January 20, 2017 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, he gave a concert with other groups, Lee Greenwood, Tim Rushlow and a few others, for the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.
