Perfect alternative to potato chips.

Pretzels are amazing!

Unfortunately, the pretzel pastries are no longer usable the next day.

Therefore, in the spirit of #nofoodwaste, we are remedying the situation and showing you a delicious way to reuse old pretzels.

The result is impressive and also stands up to run-of-the-mill potato chips.

When sealed airtight, the pretzel chips stay crispy for a few days and are therefore perfect as a souvenir for a party!

That's how it's done:

You need these ingredients:

  • Pretzel chips:

  • 5 pretzels from the day before

  • 30 ml cooking oil

  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder

  • 30 ml barbecue sauce

  • Cheese dip:

  • 30g butter

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 200 ml milk

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • 300 g cheddar, grated

  • Aside from that:

  • Spring onions, cut into thin rings

The preparation is very easy:

  • Preheat oven to 150 °C fan oven.

  • For the pretzel chips:

    Cut the pretzels into slices about 1 cm thick.

    Mix well in a bowl with cooking oil, garlic powder and barbecue sauce.

  • Place on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for about 45 minutes until the chips are golden brown and crispy.

    Turn occasionally during baking.

    Allow to cool completely.

  • For the cheese dip:

    Heat butter in a pot.

    Add flour and fry briefly.

    Add milk while stirring constantly and bring to the boil.

    Add pepper, salt and cheddar, reduce heat and stir until homogeneous.

    Pour into a bowl and decorate with spring onions if desired.

  • Serve the pretzel chips with the cheese dip.

  • Et voila!
