Liver cancer usually only becomes noticeable in an advanced stage.
It shows itself through various, non-specific symptoms.
In Germany, around 9,800 new cases of liver cancer currently occur every year.
According to information from the
Robert Koch Institute (RKI),
this type of cancer is relatively rare.
However, with almost 8,200 deaths per year, liver cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer death.
This makes it all the more important to detect a tumor as early as possible.

, there is a risk that liver cancer causes hardly any symptoms at the beginning of its growth and those affected often do not notice anything at first.
The first, non-specific symptoms of liver cancer usually only appear in the advanced stages of the cancer.
However, at this point the chances of a complete recovery are slim.
The following symptoms can be typical of a malignant tumor in the liver:
Loss of appetite, nausea or increased temperature without an established cause
Pressure pain in the upper abdomen
Swelling under the right costal arch that can be felt
Jaundice (increasing yellowing of the skin) and itching
unwanted weight loss
Reduced performance, weakness and fatigue

Liver cancer: examinations and diagnostic options if the type of cancer is suspected
The symptoms that arise can also have relatively harmless triggers.
However, you should have the cause of such symptoms clarified by a doctor as soon as possible.
