At least 27 people were killed and around 40 injured in two separate explosions that targeted the offices of election candidates in the southwestern province of Baluchistan today, on the eve of the opening of polls tomorrow.
The first explosion occurred in front of the election office of an independent candidate in Pishin district, Balochistan.
The medical superintendent of a local hospital confirmed that the explosion caused 15 deaths and around 30 injuries.
The second explosion occurred at the central electoral office of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) in the QilaSaifullah district, also in Baluchistan.
"Twelve people died and 10 others were injured," confirmed Deputy Commissioner Yasir Bazai.
