Piazza Affari is weak and essentially in line with the other European stock exchanges, awaiting clearer signals from central banks on the timing of rate cuts: the Ftse Mib index concluded down 0.45% at 30,976 points, the Ftse All share fell by 0.43% to 33,118.
In fact, all the stock markets of the Old Continent generally fell slightly, with the exception of Madrid which lost 1.1%, also weighed down by the still weak Banco Santander (-1.9%).
Followed by the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (-0.7%), London (-0.6%) and Paris, which closed down by 0.3%.
The Amsterdam price list is just below parity, losing 0.1%.
The spread between BTPs and Bunds closed stable at 156 basis points compared to 155 at the opening, with the yield on the Treasury product at 3.87%.
The euro is calm at 1.07 against the dollar.
In the energy sector, gas prices fell slightly on the Amsterdam market, closing down 1.4% at 28 euros per megawatt hour, while oil held just below 74 dollars per barrel.
In this context, a very positive day for MPS in Piazza Affari: after the 2023 accounts with a profit of over two billion and the return of the dividend after thirteen years, the stock closed up 5.5% at 3.56 euros.
In the main basket, Diasorin also performed well (+2%), followed by Ferrari (+1.1%) and Stellantis, up by one percentage point.
Eni, on the other hand, fell (-1.5%), with Intesa losing 2.1% to 2.84 euros.
Sales also on Inwit (-2.3%) and Interpump (-2.7%), but the weakest stock was Saipem, with a final decline of 3.1% to 1.26.
