Goodbye to Alfredo Castelli, Martin Mystère's father.

"He left us a master of comics" states Lucca comics & games expressing condolences for the passing of Castelli, who passed away last night at the age of 76;

he was born in Milan on 26 June 1947.

    Among the greatest comics writers in the world, Castelli was the creator of Martin Mystère, the 'detective of the impossible', but also the founder of fanzines and magazines, as well as a comics historian.

He was also the creator of humorous characters such as 'Scheletrino' and 'l'Omino Bufo', which he also designed, which was also one of the first examples of the simplified line in Italian comics.

    Lucca comics recalls that "over the decades he was a constant protagonist of Lucca comics & games and Lucca Collezionando: in 1970 he was the first to receive the Yellow Kid (together with Dino Battaglia), among the first protagonists of the comics world and of pop culture to leave his handprint for the Walk of Fame in Lucca and was awarded the title of 'Master of Comics' by the festival".

Two years ago Lucca comcis dedicated the exhibition 'Castelli & Friends' to him for the 40th anniversary of the creation of Martyn Mystère.

    "Alfredo Castelli was and will remain a legend of drawn literature, a friend and a mentor - comments Emanuele Vietina, director of Lucca comics & games -: with his kindness, his rare intelligence, his sharp wit he raised us in these decades. We grew up reading the stories he created, getting lost in his plots, finding ourselves at dinner laughing and chatting and listening to his stories about the Lucca of '66 in that legendary foyer of the Teatro del Giglio. His memory will not even be a memory, but a solid and permanent presence in our demonstration and in our hearts".
