The first major product launched by the Apple brand since the introduction of the Apple Watch nine years ago does not go unnoticed on social networks.

Since its release in the United States on Friday, February 2, videos circulating on social platforms show users of Apple's Vision Pro walking, driving or skateboarding with their helmets screwed onto their heads, sparking questions.

Indeed, sold at 3500 euros, this headset is rather designed for sedentary use, at home or perhaps on a train, but not really for outdoor use.

Many of these videos come from content creators or influencers active on TikTok or Instagram, who have acquired the expensive virtual reality headset and want to share their experience through futuristic videos.

The first feedback from testers praises the quality of the image and the ease of use: all you have to do is direct your gaze towards an application and tap your finger to open or close it.

However, the Vision Pro is not suitable for use on the move.

“If I put my apps in front of me and move, I immediately bump into them,” explains YouTuber Luke Miani in a video.

The first criticisms concern the bulky battery and the “personas”, these photo-realistic avatars supposed to represent users during video conferences.

“This headset has the typical characteristics of a first generation product: it is heavy, its battery discharges quickly, and what about the personas…” summarizes Joanna Stern, journalist at the Wall Street Journal.

However, she adds: “Despite these flaws, wearing this headset might be more pleasant than holding a phone in front of your face.

And for work or watching movies, it's really interesting.

Apple presents this headset as its first foray into the field of “spatial computing”, offering the possibility of using virtual screens of different sizes to work, chat with friends or watch videos.

Analysts at Wedbush Securities expect sales of about 600,000 units this year.

“This is just the beginning for the Vision Pro,” said Dan Ives, an analyst at the firm, who predicts that the next version of the Vision Pro “will be much cheaper, around $2,000,” and also thinks that “ future models will resemble sunglasses, offering a much wider range of functionality to users.
