For several years they have been an integral part of beautiful summer days in the garden or on the balcony, but also sometimes in the apartment: stink bugs and other types of bugs.
The insects, which originally come from Asia and Africa, are basically harmless, but in this country they have ideal conditions to reproduce.
They also lay up to 450 eggs, sometimes in the garden bed.
Here's what they look like and what you should do to get rid of them.

The bug, also known as the stink bug, is an invasive species that is spreading more and more in Germany.
It has no natural enemies and can therefore reproduce particularly well.
The adult bugs like to overwinter behind house facades, gazebos or in garages.
Under good conditions, the bug reproduces particularly well and lays an average of around 200 eggs, but sometimes up to 450 eggs.
Brown eggs indicate the gray garden bug
The Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture (LfL) describes the eggs of the gray garden bug as brownish.
They are mostly deposited on branches and not on the underside of leaves, as is the case with other species of bugs.
In addition, egg clutches only consist of around 14 eggs.
If you live in the south and middle of Germany or in warmer locations, there is a good chance of encountering them.
In autumn, like other species of bugs and spiders, they move into the house where they seek protection.
Green eggs indicate the green stink bug
With up to 100 eggs, the green stink bug lays fewer eggs than the marmorated stink bug, but is still considered a pest in many places.
They are deposited on the underside of leaves.
The closely related green rice bug is often found in greenhouses.
It prefers herbaceous plants and often attacks fruit vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and beans, as LfL knows.
The green stink bug also occasionally appears as a pest in apples and pears.

You can do that
If you discover the eggs in the garden or even in your own home, you should destroy them.
It is best to catch adult bugs and release them, otherwise they will spray a strong-smelling secretion.
As a precaution, you can use close-meshed insect nets on fruits and vegetables.
To prevent insects from coming into the house and laying their eggs there, it is recommended to line window and door openings with insect screens.
It is better not to vacuum up the insects, as they will also secrete their secretions and this method of removal is not very animal-friendly.
