The Russian Parliament unanimously adopted the law that transfers to it the responsibility for crimes against the security of the Russian Federation, and stipulates the confiscation of property, the deprivation of honorary titles, and more, for famous people with Russian citizenship found to be "traitors" to Mother Russia.

In the coming days, a law will be signed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

In addition, the new law states that the list of offenses for which a person will be considered a traitor in the Russian Federation will be expanded, and will include, among other things: spreading lies about Russia or the Russian army, people who transfer money to the enemy's army, and more.

"This is a bill against scoundrels and traitors, those who spit on the backs of our soldiers, traitors to their homeland. Money is transferred to the armed forces of the country that is at war with us. Our country, the citizens, have done everything for these people, to ensure that they live comfortably, receive honorary titles, awards, property, and in return they betray their homeland," said Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the House of Parliament who was also one of the authors of the initiative.

It seems that some Russian celebrities who live outside the country foresaw this and took care in advance of transferring the property to people close to them, or selling it.

The Russian media gives several examples of such people, including an Israeli-Russian musician who lives in Netanya, and transferred his luxurious mansion in the Moscow region to his sister.

He did so last year for fear of confiscation.

In addition, a famous entertainer who lives in Herzliya, according to several sources, is trying to sell his castle in the village of Griaz for a billion rubles ($11 million).

Alex Tanzer, a social activist in the field of Russian immigration, says that "the vague concepts of this law on confiscation of property will eventually lead to an abuse of power, and the courts in Russia will do what the party and the government tell them to do. As they say, whoever is not with us is against us. Law This is intended to stop any criticism of Putin and the war in Ukraine. One of the voices of this criticism comes from new Israeli citizens who immigrated from Russia and they are not going to be silent. The law to confiscate real estate from celebrities highlights how much the authorities fear them, especially those who live abroad and the Russian police cannot silence and stop them."
