2024 is the year of global elections: for the first time in history there will be voting in 64 countries plus the European Union, for a total of approximately 49% of the world population
.
It will be the first election in the era of artificial intelligence.
Many analysts are concerned about the possible proliferation of deepfakes and fakenews.
Will it really be like this?
How to recognize manipulated content?
Are positive uses of artificial intelligence possible in election campaigns?
What will the meeting between generative artificial intelligence and the algorithms of social platforms produce?
For the first time in Italy we will try to give a systematic and in-depth answer to these questions in the
workshop open to the public, entitled: "Artificial intelligence, information and electoral campaigns. Opportunities and risks. What to do?"
The workshop will take place on Friday 9 February, from 9.30 to 13.30, at the Department of Computer Science of the La Sapienza University of Rome in Viale Regina Elena 295 and is organized by the Department of Computer Science coordinated by
prof.
Walter Quattrociocchi and the Pensiero Solido Foundation led by Antonio Palmieri.
Academics, researchers, journalists, communication and electoral campaign experts, representatives of digital platforms will delve into how digital influences the formation of public opinion, the existing and possible uses, positive and negative, of generative and conversational artificial intelligence .
During the meeting, the research "Global Election: monitoring and comparison of information dynamics during elections in different countries" will be presented.
