The Honorary Jury asked by M5S leader Giuseppe Conte to rule on the dispute that arose between him and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni regarding the ESM no longer exists.

The president of the Chamber, Lorenzo Fontana, decides to dissolve it at the request of the Conte himself.

And the story, which began with the surprise resignation of the two opposition commissioners, Stefano Vaccari (Pd) and Filiberto Zaratti (Avs), becomes yet another occasion for clashes between the majority and the centre-left.

Or, more precisely, between the vice president of the Chamber, Giorgio Mulè (FI), who presided over the Jury and Giuseppe Conte.

Conte a Fontana: 'It should be dissolved' (ANSA)

The 5 star leader, immediately after the resignations of Zaratti and Vaccari, asks Fontana to dissolve the Commission because, in light of what was said by the two commissioners, "the conditions of impartiality have disappeared", as well as "the possibility of reaching to an impartial reconstruction".

And Fontana, since it was Conte himself who asked for the Jury, dissolves it, with a note read in the Chamber by the vice-president, Anna Ascani, in which Fontana declares to take "acknowledgment of the withdrawal of the request by the deputy Conte".

A decision, it is specified, taken "without going into the merits of the considerations expressed" by the deputy.

But Mulè, whom Fontana meets before dissolving the jury, thanking him for "the accuracy and precision of the work carried out" and for "the perfect adherence to the Chamber's regulations of the procedure followed to reach the final report", doesn't agree.

The accusation of "partiality" and "absence of impartiality" does not sit well with him.

So he calls a press conference to give his version of events.

First of all he claims to have respected the rules and regulations to the letter and to have been "an impartial arbiter" and then he assures that "there was no vote" on the Report that was being finalized and that Vaccari's position and Zaratti it is not clear where it came from given that until "the meeting the day before the only thing achieved among all the commissioners was unanimity".

But then he goes on the attack and accuses Conte of having "outraged the institution of the Grand Jury".

"The passage" also contained in the letters of the resignations "in which it is said that we were ready to agree with Meloni is devoid of any foundation", adds the FI representative, recalling how "none of them has ever raised doubts and criticisms" or "proposed minority relations".

Then, he indulges in the football metaphor by saying that Zaratti and Vaccari have "abandoned the pitch" and that Conte "ran away with the ball".

All observations that triggered Conte's reaction who in turn called the press to say that with the Jury "they wanted to make Meloni win easily" and that he couldn't have taken the ball away because he never had it.

He thanks Fontana and attacks Mulè in turn, observing how he has never "showed the glimpse of self-criticism" and how "he was left alone by his own commissioners".

The back and forth does not subside and Mulè reacts with another striking phrase: "Using President Fontana as a 'shield' to continue to support theses that clash with reality does not do honor to the Honorable Conte. Dissolved Jury's honor has liquefied."

And while the 5 Star MP Vittoria Baldino evokes the possibility of another jury to establish who was right between Conte and Meloni on the ESM, a chorus of criticism against the former prime minister rises in the centre-right.

"Conte discredits the Jury" says FdI group leader in the Chamber Tommaso Foti.

While another member of the Jury, Fabrizio Cecchetti, speaks of "contempt against an impartial institution".

Conte "makes yet another fool", assures Augusta Montaruli (FdI).

"The little theater put up by the opposition - comments the other commissioner Alessandro Colucci - offends Parliament".

"Conte escapes and confirms his duplicity", observes the undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro.

All this while Zaratti and Vaccari defend the choice to leave the Jury ("They wanted Meloni to win") and applaud Fontana's decision to dissolve it.
