If hot dog rolls or buns are often too soft for you, you can bake them crispy in the waffle iron.
The result: the perfect finger food in the form of hot dog waffles.
Ok, admittedly, we actually claim that each of our hot dog recipes is something exceptionally new and also tastes really good.
But is Simply Tasty always right?
For example, we have the Weißwurst hot dog, which the Bavarians would have loved to hit us with.
We also made ourselves rather unpopular in some parts of Germany with the idea of a currywurst-style hot dog.
Luckily, the hot dog tarte flambée with sausages and pickles made up for a lot and after the simple hot dog spaghetti everyone was appeased again.
What do we as Simply Tasty learn from this when it comes to hot dogs?
Some dishes are good the way they are.
But they can always get better with little tweaks.
To prove it, we take a normal hot dog with sausages, fried onions, etc. and put it in a waffle iron.
The result convinces everyone, we promise.
The hot dog waffles are prepared this quickly and easily:
For four hot dogs from the waffle iron you need these ingredients:
4 hot dog sausages, sliced
4 hot dog buns
4 tbsp mustard
4 tsp ketchup
40 g gherkins, sliced
4 tsp fried onions
4 tbsp tartar sauce

The preparation is extremely simple and quick:
Preheat a Belgian waffle iron and grease it a little if necessary.
Cut the hot dog buns lengthwise, but do not cut through.
Place buns on the bottom of the waffle iron and top evenly with mustard, ketchup, pickles, fried onions, tartar sauce and sausage slices.
Fold the buns together and close the waffle iron.
Bake until the hot dogs are browned, about four minutes.
Relish.

Oh and once the waffle iron is hot, you can also make cheeseburger waffles and, for dessert, some sweet croffles, a mixture of croissant and waffles.
Have fun!
