High tension in Brazil, where former president
Jair Bolsonaro
is one of the targets of the Tempus Veritatis operation, launched by the federal police as part of the investigation into the attack on the buildings of democracy on January 8th.
The investigators went to the home of the former head of state, in Angra dos Reis, on the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, ordering Bolsonaro to hand over his passport within 24 hours.
The Brazilian president,
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
, blamed his predecessor, claiming that the "coup attempt" of January 8, 2023 "would not have happened without Bolsonaro".
Commenting on the police operation against the right-wing former president, Lula said that "the concrete fact is that there was an attempted coup d'état".
Since this morning, searches have been underway in the residences and offices of, among others, generals Braga Netto, Augusto Heleno and Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, the former defense minister Anderson Torres, as well as the president of the right-wing Liberal Party (PL) Bolsonaro, Valdemar Costa Neto.

The investigation is aimed at clarifying the alleged involvement of these people in the events that led to the invasion of the institutional headquarters in Brasilia which occurred on 8 January 2023.
