The anti-war candidate for the Russian presidency, Boris Nadezhdin, announced that his candidacy had been rejected by the Central Election Commission.
Anti-war Russian presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin said he will appeal to the Supreme Court against the rejection of his candidacy announced today by the Central Election Commission.
"I do not agree with the Commission's decision - Nadezhdin wrote on his Telegram channel -. I collected more than 200,000 signatures throughout Russia. We conducted the collection of signatures openly and honestly and the whole world saw the queues at our offices and collection points" .
"There is nothing to comment here, the Central Election Commission precisely follows the rules established for candidates."
Putin's spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, said this in relation to the case of Boris Nadezhdin: the politician opposed to the war in Ukraine who this morning announced that his candidacy for the Russian presidential elections had been rejected by the Central Election Commission.
“There are certain parameters that the candidate must meet. And what we heard today from the Central Election Commission is that there were a large number of irregularities in the signatures and that many signatures were invalid. That
is, this important criterion was not met,” he said Peskov.
However, the decision of the Russian electoral commission to reject Nadezhdin's candidacy is considered by many to be clearly politically motivated.
