The appearance, the Qua Qua dance and John Travolta's cachet in Sanremo hold center stage and also portend important future developments.
We start from the U-Power shoes worn by the actor (he has been its testimonial since the summer of 2023) and framed without being obscured during his performance which sparked fierce controversy on the hypothesis of hidden advertising.
"No commercial agreement with Travolta" says Rai's Prime Time Entertainment director, Marcello Ciannamea.
"Just an editorial agreement. Nobody noticed the shoes and there was no desire to take any particular shots of the feet" adds deputy director Federica Lentini.
And then she admits that the mistake of not darkening the shoes was made: "There is an assistant next to the stage and perhaps for reasons of awe he didn't think about covering the logo of the shoes with tape".
Amadeus then explained, not hiding his anger: "I don't even know the brand of the shoes, how can you imagine that I promote a pair of Travolta's shoes? This is Fantasanremo".
For his part, the shoe manufacturing company explains: "Participation in the Sanremo Festival is the result of an agreement between Rai and the actor of which U-Power is in no way a party".
Remaining on the topic of money: for Travolta, Rai says, there was no chachet but only a reimbursement of expenses.
"Even low. There's nothing else" notes Ciannamea.
On the much talked about Qua Qua he starts joking at dawn Viva Rai2!
Long live Sanremo!
Fiorello: "It was one of the most terrifying gags in the history of TV! Travolta will never want to return to Italy."
Annoyed at the press conference, Amadeus asks why "find these assholes... to argue" and specifies: "He didn't get 400 thousand euros to come here to do that shit.
He knew everything about the gag, if he thought better of it at the last moment it's not my fault ".
Deputy director Lentini responds to the rumor according to which the actor did not sign the release for the use of videos of his performance after the festival: "Travolta signed a contract with a series of rights, only for the live broadcast".
