The Ministry of Labor, now part of the Ministry of Human Capital, intervened this Wednesday night in the
salary conflict
due to which the Automotive Tram Union (
UTA
) had decided on a
24-hour bus stoppage
throughout the country, except in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, where an agreement had been reached and the forceful measure was left without effect.
Omar Yasin's portfolio ruled on
mandatory conciliation
and thus,
there will be services in all provinces
, including the interior of Buenos Aires.
The drivers of short and medium distance buses from the interior of the country had announced in a statement signed by the UTA that
this Thursday they would stop
for 24 hours due to the lack of response from employers in the sector to their salary claims.
The national leadership of the union, headed by
Roberto Fernández
, expressed in that text: "We have witnessed a new
failure of the fifth round of joint negotiations
for the represented personnel of the Interior of the country, held before the Ministry of Labor of the Nation."
"The Business Federation
has not made any salary offer
, stating that the National State has suppressed all contributions to interior transportation, denying us a salary increase, even though the salary review should have occurred on December 15 of last year," he said.
The UTA highlighted that recently "salaries have been agreed" for workers in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) sector "under the premise of 'Equal remuneration for equal work'", which "has not happened with the rest of the jurisdictions".
The agreement signed for AMBA drivers, almost coincident with the
sharp increase in bus fares
in the area and redefinition of costs, contemplates increases that establish a salary of
almost one million pesos for February
.
In the absence of a similar agreement for the remaining jurisdictions, the UTA maintained that "it has been resolved to carry out union action measures, initially a 24-hour strike throughout the interior of the country, for Thursday the 8th of this year."
"The measure of force" was - until the official intervention that prevented it - "pushed by those who are in charge of the responsibility and obligation to solve the structural crisis of federal transportation and intend to
condemn the workers of the interior
to the loss of power of their salaries, forcing us to fight and harming the more than 9 million passengers that we transport daily in the interior of the country," the union said.
The statement was signed by the National Board of Directors and the Sectional Executive Boards of the UTA.
Now a period of five days opens to direct the negotiations between the union and the employers who, in Javier Milei's time, will dispense with the mediating role of the Government.
