But what does cumbia mean?
It is
a contaminated rhythm of Latin American, African and Spanish music
that has become a genre of Colombian and Panamanian music, song and popular dance.
Heavy drums and the tamborito play a role in each country's cumbia, but the Panama variant has a more relaxed feel, unlike the rhythmic Colombian ensembles.
It is related to salsa, mango, merengue and rumba.
Regarding its origin, the majority of folklorists recognize cumbia as having a tri-ethnic character, that is, the
