Rain of profits for Italian banks in 2023. The main groups listed on the stock exchange (Intesa, Unicredit, Banco Bpm, Bper, Mps, Mediobanca, Popolare di Sondrio, and Credem) recorded cumulative profits of 23.3 billion during 2023 euros, which rise to 24 billion if the results of the Credit Agricole banking subsidiary are included.
For Mediobanca, whose financial year ends in June, reference was made to the four quarters included in 2023. Between coupons and buybacks, more than 19 billion are expected to end up in the pockets of shareholders, a figure that will surpass the 20 billion in light of the advances on dividends that they will be detached from some banks.
