Broker Gianluigi Torzi was released on bail in recent days, having been arrested on 10 January in Dubai on an international arrest warrant for the Milanese investigation which hypothesizes market manipulation of Aedes shares, a real estate investment company listed on the stock exchange, a crime which was allegedly committed between 2017 and 2019.
Torzi, also known in the news for having been sentenced in first instance to 6 years for the affair of the management of the funds of the Vatican secretariat of state and the sale of a building on Sloane Avenue in London, is now waiting in Dubai for the proceedings before to the judicial authority of the United Arab Emirates, which will have to decide on the extradition.
Long lead times are expected.
The case for which he was stopped in Dubai is still in the preliminary hearing phase in Milan.
Torzi, defended by the lawyer MarioZanchetti and who had been on the run for about a year, after the Court of Cassation had said yes to the arrest requested by the prosecutor StefanoCivardi (it had been denied by the investigating judge Tiziana Gueli), was arrested in the United Arab Emirates on the basis of the precautionary measure of the judiciary Milanese.
He is also accused in the preliminary hearing, before the Milan magistrate Lorenza Pasquinelli, in the case of an alleged fraud against the historic mutual aid company Cesare Pozzo.
And he is under investigation for an alleged one billion euro scam involving health credit securitization operations.
