Many drivers use Google Maps for better navigation.
However, a helpful and popular feature will be discontinued in the future.
Kassel – Google Assistant can be used to find information or complete smaller tasks while driving.
Previously, drivers could ask the program in Google Maps a question without typing - this meant they were not distracted.
But the function should be a thing of the past.
Google Assistant no longer available on Google Maps
The in-house voice assistant called Google Assistant was introduced seven years ago.
Since the beginning of 2024, many of the voice assistant's previous functions have been deleted.
Google stated that the company wanted to concentrate on the core functions.
“We are removing some underused features in Google Assistant to focus on providing the best possible user experience,” Google said in explaining the move.
Google Maps is used by many drivers for navigation.
However, a popular feature will be discontinued in February.

Google therefore announced that the Google Assistant driving mode would be discontinued from February 2024.
This was confirmed by a banner on the Google Maps home screen: “This view will no longer be displayed in February,” it said.
With Driving Mode, introduced in 2019, drivers could enjoy an improved user interface in Google Maps.
The features like voice control, playing audio content and making calls while driving will now be a thing of the past.
However, there has also recently been a new function for Google Maps.

reported, the feature in Google Maps was discontinued on February 1st, at least not on all devices.
However, the driving mode is expected to disappear from the program sometime later this month.
As long as driving mode is available, it can be activated in Google Maps by clicking on the four square button in the bottom right corner.
The removal of the Google Assistant driving mode is another change in a series of innovations on Android.
Google already switched off Android Auto for phones, and a little later the Assistant Driving Dashboard was also removed.
Many users on social media were anything but enthusiastic about the changes: “It drives me crazy.
I thought maybe an update broke this.
“I can’t even write to the assistant anymore or have a message read to me,” complains a Reddit user.
