Belgian socialist MEP Maria Arena was questioned by investigators today as a suspect in the Qatargate investigation.
This was reported by the Belgian federal prosecutor's office.
The interrogation took place without the request for the lifting of parliamentary immunity.
Arena, very close to the repentant former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri, believed to be the soul of the alleged corruption plot within the European Parliament, was immediately included in the investigation, without however ever being summoned by the investigators.
Last July, 280 thousand euros in cash were found at her son's house.
