It's hard to imagine the carnival season without donuts in Austria.

But instead of jam, this restaurant fills their creation with a burger patty.

Vienna – Actually, the name of the dessert is already causing enough discussion.

Berliners, pancakes or as they are called “properly” in Austria: doughnuts.

But not everyone agrees on the content either.

The classic contains apricot jam, but chocolate and vanilla fillings are also common.

Particularly creative chefs have tried out this delicacy in recent years.

The Austrians even didn't stop at using schnitzel as a donut filling.

A restaurant is now presenting their own creation – the donut burger.

“Donut Burger” – Restaurant reinvents the doughnut

The restaurant already offered the donut burger last year.

This year the experiment went into the next round with a new recipe.

“To ensure that every visit to Le Burger becomes a culinary experience for our guests, we are always looking for new ideas.

The new donut burger is our interpretation of the interplay of tradition and innovation that Le Burger is known for,” enthuses Daniel Chuchlik from (Le)Burger at

oe24.

At first glance, the donut halves look quite similar to regular burger patties.

Instead of apricot jam, there is a beef patty with camembert in the donut, which is cut in half.

The jam is only found as cranberry jam.

Like every real doughnut, this one is also powdered with icing sugar.

The snack is available in three versions: with beef, with chicken schnitzel and vegetarian, with zucchini patty.

This is served with side dishes such as sweet potato wedges, corn on the cob or fries.

Customers horrified to fascinated by the donut burger

When the donut was announced on Instagram, some users had strong feelings.

“No, just no,” seems to be the reaction of several people.

“Only if I were pregnant,” writes one user.

“Well I don’t know… maybe a donut challenge, 3 donuts, one filled with hot mustard,” suggests one user.

Still, some people are asking where the donut will be available.

Apparently some customers have become curious.

“It was surprisingly delicious last year,” admits one user on Facebook.

If anyone has got a taste or is looking for a test of courage, you will find it here.

Anyone who dares can try the donut from February 12th to 18th in all (Le)Burger branches in Austria.

The price is 5.90 euros.

The “real” burgers cost around 10-15 euros.

This unusual donut pack, which is causing a stir on the internet, also costs 13 euros.
