Since 1985, the Victoires de la Musique have crowned, in one or more categories, new artists who have shone throughout the previous year.
But on what criteria and with what result?
Some were already gold before receiving it.
Others were only in the spotlight for one evening... A look back at the revelations of the last ten years.
A boost to the first album
There were years with it and years without it.
Artists discovered by the public during an edition and who now fill large venues in France and internationally.
Among them, Suzane, crowned scene revelation of 2020. But also the group La Femme in 2014, the trio Hyphen Hyphen and Louane in 2016, Angèle and Clara Luciani in 2019. All were rewarded for their first successful album released only a few months before ceremony.
In 2023 the Belgian Pierre de Maere received the Victory for Male Revelation for his EP

This year he is competing in the top category – Artist of the Year.
A Victory after the battle
More lazily, the Victoires de la Musique honor certain years artists already well anchored in the landscape.
In 2014, the Stage Revelation Victory went to Woodkid.
At the time, the Lyon singer was already well known internationally and had even collaborated with Lana Del Rey, Drake and Rihanna.
Not a very risky choice.
In 2017, LEJ won scene revelation of the year.
But the trio is already famous for their
Summer 2015
video , a clip in which they perform eleven extracts from summer hits.
With this mash-up, they had already won first place in singles sales in France.
When Yseult receives her prize in 2021, it has already been seven years since the singer, revealed by the show Nouvelle Star in 2014, has been recording and touring with her songs.
As for Barbara Pravi, Revelation 2022, she had already exploded with the public thanks to her second place snatched at Eurovision 2021 behind Måneskin.
A little tour and then leaves
And then there are those for whom their Victory brought nothing.
Or so little.
In 2015, Indila received the Revelation Prize for her album
Mini World
.
At the time of the ceremony, it was already certified diamond disc in France and gold disc in Belgium.
Even if more than 8 million listeners continue to listen to her refrains every month on Spotify, the singer has released almost no projects since her last single in 2019. Benjamin Clémentine (2015), Radio Elvis (2019) and Terrenoire (2022 ) have been very discreet in recent years.

What will be the fate of the revelations of 2024?
Seven artists are competing in three categories: Female Revelation, Male Revelation and Stage.
Among the candidates, Zaho de Sagazan, nominated in five categories including album of the year.
Julien Granel, Adèle Castillon, Yamê and Aime Simone are also in the running for the revelation of the year prize.
