US Central Command (Centcom) forces conducted seven "self-defense" attacks in Yemen yesterday against four marine drones and seven Houthi mobile anti-ship cruise missiles that were poised to be launched into the Red Sea.
Centcom itself states this in a post on its X account, confirming news released earlier today by media close to the pro-Iranian Yemeni rebels.
“Between 5am and 9pm on 8 February Sanaa time, US Central Command forces conducted seven self-defense attacks against four unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and seven mobile anti-ship cruise missiles that the Houthis were ready to launch against vessels in the Red Sea", reads the US statement.
"Centcom identified these missiles and USVs in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they posed an imminent threat to U.S. Navy and merchant ships in the region," the U.S. military's Unified Combatant Command states, adding that "these actions will protect the freedom navigation and will make international waters safer."
