"From Hungary to Palestine free them all": this was the banner held in the hands at the garrison. The intention of the demonstrators would be to arrive at the Hungarian embassy.

Student collectives and anarchists presided over it.

"We are all anti-fascists. Everyone out of prison. Free Palestine", they continued to shout as the march proceeded

'Without chains' protest in Milan

About a hundred people participated today in the "Without Chains" protest for Ilaria Salis called in Piazza dei Mercanti in Milan by the Sentinelli.

Various associations have joined the initiative, from Amnesty International to Anpi, from Agedo to the 'Never again lager - No to CPR' group, the Antigone association and the Enzo Tortora association.

Among the participants there were some flags of the Italian Left and the Greens (the city councilor Carlo Monguzzi was present).

Volt, the Pacto Civico group of the Lombardy Region (represented by regional councilors Luca Paladini, founder of the Sentinelli, and Michela Palestra), Rifondazione Comunista and the Democratic Party also joined the garrison.

Present for the Democrats in Piazza Mercanti were the group leader in the Lombardy Region Pierfrancesco Majorino and the Milanese city councilors Filippo Barberis, Alessandro Giungi and Simonetta d'Amico.

"We are faced with a distortion of law, with horrifying scenes. And we cannot tolerate Europe being the place where things of this type happen" commented Majorino, underlining that "I believe we must all be mobilized on this. The ideas of Salis are not the object of initiatives like this. The object is that we cannot tolerate chains."

According to Majorino "the problem here is not being right or left - he added -. It is not clear why the government is so hesitant".

A protest, the one in Milan, which arrives in conjunction with the 'Day of Honour', the neo-Nazi procession which takes place every year in Budapest and during which, in 2023, Salis was arrested: "The reasons that bring Ilaria to prison and the Nazis in the streets are political reasons" concluded Vincenzo Greco, of the CGIL - Chamber of Labor of Milan.

Also present in Palermo

"The European Union and the Italian government, led by reactionary forces, have not done enough to protect Ilaria Salis, who is being held in shameful conditions in Budapest prisons."

This was said by Antonio Rampolla of the "No war" assembly which, together with the Antigone association, organized a demonstration this afternoon at the Quattro Canti in Palermo for Ilaria Salis and Filippo Mosca, detained in prisons in Hungary and Romania respectively.

"I hope that Italians are able to demonstrate democratic awareness and participate in mobilizations for rights" adds Rampolla.

"Together with the lawyer Giorgio Bisagna of Antigone we are evaluating the ways to enforce the constitutional principles also with an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights" says Virginia Dessy, one of the representatives of the "No war" assembly.

Ilaria Salis, 39 years old, a primary school teacher in Monza, appears to have participated in an attack against two neo-Nazis in Budapest, together with others.

Mosca, 29 years old, originally from Caltanissetta, is serving an 8 year and 3 month prison sentence for international drug trafficking.

The arrest dates back to last May.

"There was a culpable delay on the part of the Italian government - explains Dessy - the Farnesina was immediately informed of the arrest of Ilaria Salis, which occurred a year ago, on 11 February, yet our compatriot was left in inhumane conditions For me yes"
