The Hamas-run government press office called on the UN Security Council to "convene an immediate meeting" after Israeli soldiers were ordered to attack Rafah.

CNN reports it.

“We call on the United Nations Security Council to convene an immediate and urgent meeting to confirm its determination to force the Israeli occupation to stop the genocidal war it is waging against Palestinians in Gaza,” reads the statement, which warns that the attack on Rafah could "leave tens of thousands martyred and wounded".

For his part, Prime Minister Netanyahu is said to have stated in the War Cabinet that Israel has only one month - given the international pressure - to complete its operations in Rafah aimed at dismantling the 4 Hamas battalions in the area.

Netanyahu, announcing the preparations for the offensive against the Islamic faction deployed in Rafah and the measures to evacuate the civilian population on site, would therefore have highlighted that the operations should be completed before the start of Ramadan, around March 10.

German Foreign Minister, an attack on Rafah would be an 'anticipated humanitarian catastrophe'

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, in signaling her visit to Israel in the coming days aimed at seeking a ceasefire, said that an Israeli attack on Rafah would trigger an "announced humanitarian catastrophe".

"The suffering in Rafah is already incredible. 1.3 million people seek shelter from the fighting in a very confined space. An Israeli army offensive" on the southern city of the Strip "would be a humanitarian catastrophe foretold," Baerbock wrote on X.

"The population of Gaza cannot disappear into thin air. Israel must defend itself from the terror of Hamas, but at the same time

alleviate the suffering of the civilian population as much as possible", added the minister.

"This is why we need another ceasefire, also to finally be able to free the hostages. I will discuss how to achieve this next week in Israel."

For the Saudis the attack would have 'extremely dangerous repercussions'

The Saudi Foreign Ministry warned, in a statement posted on X, of the "extremely dangerous repercussions" of an attack on the city of Rafah, the last refuge in Gaza for hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians.

Al Jazeera reports it.

The ministry affirmed its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the forced deportation of the Palestinian population and renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire.

“This continued violation of international law and international humanitarian law confirms the need to urgently convene the United Nations Security Council to prevent Israel from causing an imminent humanitarian catastrophe for which all those who support the aggression are responsible,” he said. declared the ministry
