"There were also some cards, blank identity cards. I think there were 20,15 of them. I've always had plenty of them. All my documents come from Rome because in Rome there are documents for everyone, serious documents. It's a street that everyone goes down."
Matteo Messina Denaro, questioned last July 7 by the Palermo prosecutors, spoke thus of the false documents used during his time in hiding, denying that he had obtained them through his abettors from Trapani and indicating the source of his fake identity cards as an unspecified Roman forger
.
The interrogation report was filed yesterday.
In the same report, the boss expressed his contempt for the new recruits of Cosa Nostra.
"My world is transfigured, not a normal metamorphosis, just an indecent thing."
"You can't cripple mafiosi, without wanting to offend the crippled - he explained - when you start taking low scoundrels, people to whom I didn't even say hello and you arrest them for mafia, then in that moment my world is over, razed to the ground ".
Messina Denaro also names the new bosses he despises: like Gino u mitra, Gino Abbate, Palermo boss of Kalsa.
"He's more disgusting - he says - than someone who created him and you pass him off as a mafioso?".
"The real mafiosi are others, they are around", he concludes.
This was Messina Denaro's last meeting with the magistrates: the mafia boss died two months later.
