Only Charles' brief exit behind the windows of his vehicle, from his London home at Clarence House, was immortalized on Tuesday by photographers.
Charles’ “most sincere thanks”
Less than 18 months after acceding to the throne, Charles III began his treatment on Monday against “a form of cancer” which was not further specified.
It is known that the disease was detected during a recent operation for benign prostatic hypertrophy.
However, the 75-year-old sovereign does not suffer from prostate cancer.
Although he will continue some of his administrative functions, he will however be absent from public life for an indefinite period.

Charles III presented on Saturday his “most sincere thanks” to the people who sent him messages of support, in his first press release since the diagnosis of his cancer.
“I would like to express my most sincere thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes that I have received in recent days,” wrote the father of Princes William and Harry.
“As all those affected by cancer know, kind thoughts like these constitute the greatest comfort and encouragement,” the monarch moved in this missive published on the website and the account Twitter) of the British royal family.
“It is also heartwarming to hear how sharing my diagnosis has helped to raise awareness among the general public and highlight the work of all of these organizations that support cancer patients and their families to across the UK and the rest of the world.”
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as I personally experience it,” adds the message signed “Charles R.”
