Along with the Grammy Awards, it is one of the distinctions of choice that can crown a musician's career.
The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame announced on Saturday the names of the 15 artists and groups considered for such an honor.
Ten of the contenders are there for the first time.
On this list are Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane's Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, the late Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor , Ozzy Osbourne, Sade and A Tribe Called Quest.
The lucky winners will be announced at the end of April.
Half of the nominees will be inducted at the end of a ceremony, organized this fall in Cleveland, Ohio and broadcast on Disney +.
To be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, you must have released your first record at least twenty-five years previously.
