Whether it's New Year's Eve or not, these hats made from yeast dough are also a hit in the New Year

Highlights: Whether it's New Year's Eve or not, these hats made from yeast dough are also a hit in the New Year. Can you still remember our Greek theme week in the summer? There was not only gyros, but also a really good bean soup, which is considered the national dish of the Greeks: Fasolada. Or maybe you would prefer something truly Bavarian? No problem – of course a themed week around Oktoberfest couldn’t be missed. My personal favorite: This cheesy cheeseburger pasta casserole comes with lots of gherkins on top.

It definitely tastes good in the cold winter.

For those of you who are only here because of our... well... rather unconventional cheese recipes, my personal favorite: This cheesy cheeseburger pasta casserole comes with lots of gherkins on top.

At the end of the year we have a classic

New Year's Eve cookie

for you:

Mutzen

.

Hopefully you'll have a good start to the new year!

That's how it's done:

You only need a few ingredients:

  • Yeast dough:

  • 250 ml milk

  • 50g butter

  • 500g flour

  • 80g sugar

  • 1 pack of dry yeast

  • 1 pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 egg

  • Aside from that:

  • frying oil

  • powdered sugar

  • applesauce

The preparation is not difficult:

  • For the yeast dough:

Gently heat the milk and butter in the microwave or in a saucepan until the butter melts.

The liquid must not be warmer than hand warm.

  • Mix flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.

Add the milk-butter mixture and an egg.

Knead into a homogeneous dough using the dough hook of a hand mixer.

  • Cover and let rest in a warm place for at least an hour until the dough has doubled in size.

  • Roll out the dough on a floured work surface to a thickness of about 1 cm.

Cut the dough into small diamonds with a knife.

  • Heat frying oil in a deep pot and gradually fry the caps until golden brown (about 3 minutes).

Drain the caps on kitchen paper and immediately dust them with powdered sugar.

  • The hats taste best warm with a little applesauce.

  • Happy New Year!

  • Fluffy, sweet and delicious: you definitely have to try the recipe for Mutzen or Mutzenalmonds.
