"At this moment I think it was the right solution: if you just do televoting every evening, after the first evening you practically already know who won the festival. It's not easy every year to find a fair jury, I really liked this one."
This is how Amadeus, guest of Bruno Vespa on Five Minutes, responds to a question on the controversy over the voting system of the 2024 festival - based precisely on the mix between televoting, the judgment of the press room and the radio jury, after the upheaval that saw Geolier, leading the public preferences with 60%, finished in second place behind Angelina Mango in the final ranking.
"In the press room rankings on the first evening - recalls Amadeus - Geolier was not in the top five, evidently the press did not see him on the podium, but in my opinion the radio stations were divided, the televoting instead was for Geolier".
When asked about his future, he replied: "Actually I said it before starting this last edition, I felt and feel that it is the right time to close after five years", confirming his intention to close the experience at the Sanremo festival , after the record results of the last edition.
A success achieved "by bringing the music that young people like, which parents and grandparents also like, contemporary music, and creating a climate of freedom and true friendship: young people need to come together, with Sanremo we have done it again more", he underlines.
Geolier, Angelina Mango, Annalisa, "it is perhaps the youngest podium ever, thanks to music that everyone likes".
"A program with Fiorello? It's not planned, it's not in our plans at the moment", Amadeus then says, regarding
the possibility of bringing the Amarellos back as a couple, a hypothesis dear to Rai CEO Roberto Sergio
