The drugstore chain dm is investing one billion euros to spruce up all of its branches.

The first customers can already examine the results in Karlsruhe.

Munich – Investing in the future is a smart idea, or at least that’s what the drugstore company dm thought.

Starting this year, a lot will change in the branches, both in design and concept.

At the dm Durlach Center in Karlsruhe, customers can get a first impression.

While the branches are being changed piece by piece, a traditional branch in the Waldstadt district north of Karlsruhe's city center was closed, to the annoyance of some residents.

“Glory & Chill”: These changes await customers in the dm branches in the future

On its website, dm explains the upcoming innovations in a press release from February 2nd: In the future, customers will be welcomed in an open piazza that will lead directly to the beauty products.

“Glory” is the name of the feeling that the new cosmetics department is intended to convey.

Under the motto “Chill”, the photo corner will also be equipped with bar stools.

In addition to the children's textiles, dm is planning to set up a children's corner for playing.

Orientation should also be easier for customers.

“I find make-up at the Gloriole, health items at the ginkgo leaves, and children’s textiles at the tree,” said Sebastian Bayer, managing director of dm, who is responsible for marketing and procurement, in the official statement.

In addition, house decor should show the way to household items.

That's why the drugstore giant dm's branches are being redesigned

The drugstore chain dm says it plans to make the changes to its branches piece by piece.

“We will completely convert 300 branches to the new concept every year.

We will complete the changeover in five to six years, i.e. by the end of 2029,” Bayer said in the press release.

The aim should be to provide the customer with better customer orientation and a higher quality of stay through the redesign.

The company promises that the “principle of the cognitive map” will make people feel like Parisian tourists who can orientate themselves using concise points.

Recently, a post on Instagram went viral because a customer discovered that some organic products were cheaper at dm than at discount stores.
