The novelist and screenwriter is working on the adaptation of On the Slab, a fiction of two 90 minutes produced by Josée Dayan for France Télévision.


On the Slab

, the latest thriller by Fred Vargas, will be adapted for the small screen by Emmanuel Carrère, notably with Yvan Attal and Sylvie Testud in the casting, France Télévisions said on Monday.

Josée Dayan will sign the production of this twice-90-minute fiction, filming of which began Monday in Brittany, until the end of March.

Six-year break

This book marked Fred Vargas' return to crime fiction after a six-year break.

A novelist himself, but also a screenwriter, journalist, actor, biographer, filmmaker and documentary maker, Emmanuel Carrère was responsible for the adaptation and dialogues for France Télévisions.

Yvan Attal will play Commissioner Adamsberg, alongside other renowned actors including Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Sylvie Testud, Virginie Ledoyen, Corinne Masiero, Olivier De Benoist and Micha Lescot.

The release date is not yet known.

About fifteen years ago, Emmanuel Carrère already scripted four detective novels by Fred Vargas for television, with Josée Dayan directing:
