New album after 13 years
The Super Bowl halftime concert was timely for the 42-year-old singer who released
Coming Home on Friday,
his first album in 13 years, along with a tour starting in August.
The singer said on
Good Morning America
that he wanted his performance to pay homage to the black artists who came before him.
“I didn’t start where I am now, and I didn’t get there on my own,” he added.
“So everyone who was a part of it, I take them with me.
