State garden shows are a highlight for plant lovers.
The cities of Bad Dürrenberg, Wangen im Allgäu and the Bavarian Kirchheim demonstrate the high art of gardening.
Every year, state garden shows take place all over Germany.
The little sisters of the biennial Federal Garden Show enhance cities with their green spaces in terms of quality of life and climate and offer visitors an insight into modern garden culture.
From flower shows to botanical information to educational lectures, everything a hobby gardener's heart desires is offered.
In 2024, the federal states of Saxony-Anhalt, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria invite you to visit.
The garden show planned for Thuringia in Leinefelden-Worbis was postponed by one year to 2025 due to problems caused by the corona pandemic.
State Garden Show in Bad Dürrenberg from April 19th to October 13th, 2024
Under the motto “Salt crystal & flower magic”, Saxony-Anhalt welcomes its visitors to the brine town of Bad Dürrenberg.
The historic spa park on the Saale is located directly next to Germany's longest graduation tower, where salt is produced using brine.
Near the graduation tower, you can walk through the newly designed park in a sea-like microclimate, past perennials and colorful alternate plantings.
A total of two million flower bulbs were planted for this unique event.
A special highlight are the purple Novalis roses bred for the garden show.
There is also a flower hall with changing floristry exhibitions, themed gardens and educational trails on the topics of “salt” and “fruit”.

State Garden Show in Wangen from April 26th to October 6th, 2024
In Baden-Württemberg, the city of Wangen im Allgäu is presenting a state garden show around the lively, renatured river landscape of the Obere Argen.
Under the motto “merry, cheerful, more colorful” you will find, among other things, ten show gardens, colorful cottage gardens and theme parks, lush flower exhibitions and Allgäu plant worlds bordering the historic old town.
3,000 new trees and bushes were planted and 62,000 flower bulbs were planted in original planting patterns.
These visually reflect the history of the nearby former cotton mill.
A new observation tower towers above everything, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Allgäu Alps.
State Garden Show in Kirchheim from May 15th to October 6th, 2024
In the Bavarian town of Kirchheim near Munich, visitors can expect, among other things, themed, herb and terraced house gardens that inspire allotment gardeners in a new park measuring more than ten hectares under the motto “Growing together.”
Five different flower rooms - thematically based on the spheres of wilderness, forest, garden, water and meadow - show what floristry can do, alternating every 14 days.
In spring, tulips and ornamental alliums can be found in the changing flower areas, which are accompanied by annual and biennial plants such as poppies and gold lacquer.
They are then replaced by the summer flowers.
There are also around 90 exhibition contributions on all current topics relating to environmental protection, climate protection and biodiversity.
