"I respect everyone's decisions, but I absolutely do not agree with this statement, in the most total way. The Sanremo festival has never promoted hatred, it has always talked about inclusion, about freedom: the singers who went on stage asked for end of the war, they asked for peace, does asking for peace mean sowing hatred? Exactly the opposite."
Amadeus, guest of Porta a Porta, says this, responding to a question from Bruno Vespa on the criticism of the Israeli ambassador to Italy Alon Bar, who is convinced the Ariston stages "have been exploited to spread hatred".
"Doesn't this mean - Bruno Vespa urges him - that you have forgotten the massacre of 1200 Israelis?".
“Absolutely,” replies Amadeus.
"War on any side is to be condemned, there is no war on one side or the other, there is war that must be stopped, any war in the world must be stopped. I would never have dreamed of bringing hatred, and so too enchanting. We bring exactly the opposite: the kids in the competition make messages and appeals for peace, for freedom of ideas, of thought, for equality of skin, of values. In Sanremo in history, and without seeming presumptuous, in these years, there is a great sense of inclusion that must be respected and never changed, otherwise we go back", he concludes.
