The “RV Fit” prevention program helps people stay healthy into retirement and beyond.
This is what it says on the website of the German Pension Insurance (DRV).
The insured should recognize health problems and risks at an early stage and actively address them.
Prevention instead of rehabilitation.
The good thing about the program: It is free and you are released from work by your employer with continued payment of wages.

In addition to muscle building and endurance training, relaxation exercises are also part of RV Fit.

RV Fit is a free training program for DRV insured people.
It should contribute to a better attitude to life.
The program includes muscle building and endurance training, nutritional advice and shopping tips as well as stress management and relaxation exercises.
Anyone who is actively employed and has already been working for six months is eligible to take part.
The offer is aimed at insured persons with initial physical and/or psychological complaints.
This includes DRV occasional back pain, slight obesity and stress or sleep problems.
Preventative measures are intended to ensure that the insured person's employment is maintained for as long as possible.
In the starting phase: exemption with continued payment of wages
The program starts with an introduction lasting several days, which takes place on an outpatient or inpatient basis.
For this you are released from work.
You work out individual goals with trainers and doctors.
The second phase involves regular training.
Before or after work, you take part in group courses under the supervision of trainers.
After three months, they continue training independently and incorporate the exercises into their everyday routine.
Six months later there is a refresh.
Over one or more days, you can find out with trainers and doctors what has been achieved so far.
Here too, the employer must release you.
Where do I sign?
The application can be submitted online on the German Pension Insurance website.
All you need is your insurance number.
If the application is submitted by a third person: power of attorney or guardianship certificate as well as a valid personal document.
Where is training taking place?
The training location can be selected from the available facilities.
You can search for facilities near you on the website.
How much time does RV Fit take?
The starting phase and the refresher take place all day long.
You will be released from work by your employer for this.
The regular training appointments are part-time.
You can exercise before or after work.
How big are the training groups?
A group consists of a maximum of 15 participants.
The groups are put together according to the respective needs of the participants.

RV Fit is probably not yet known to the general population.
In internet forums such as

, many people are surprised by what the German pension insurance has to offer.
“I didn’t know such a thing existed,” one post said.
You can find criticism in the forum especially about longer waiting times.
“For me, exactly 6 months passed between the application and the approval - yesterday the decision was in the mailbox, unfortunately far too late for me.” However, most people seem satisfied with the RV Fit process.
An ex-participant writes on his personal blog: “I have achieved my goal of building muscle, even if there is room for more.
I was also able to significantly reduce my complaints, especially tension and back problems.”
