There are sometimes big differences in quality when it comes to frozen fries.
However, the same product prevailed at Stiftung Warentest and Ökotest.
Munich – The selection of frozen fries in the refrigerated section couldn’t be larger.
There is something for everyone: there are large, small, thick, thin and fluted fries.
Stiftung Warentest and Ökotest found out in tests which fries are the best.
Frozen fries in the test – these products are convincing
A total of 19 different fries products from the freezer compartment were tested at Stiftung Warentest.
Fries were selected for preparation in the oven, deep fryer and even the microwave.
The quality ratings range from good to sufficient, but most of them were convincing in terms of taste.
However, two products attracted negative attention due to their high pollutant content.
The same problem already occurred with veggie schnitzels at Stiftung Warentest.
Fries are one of the most popular fast food dishes.
But which frozen fries are the best in the test?

The oven fries from Bofrost scored best at Stiftung Warentest with an overall grade of 1.7.
The price of 0.53 euros per 100 grams was also higher there than at many others.
McCain's Chef Frites made it to second place with a grade of 1.8.
The price of 0.37 euros per 100 grams is significantly lower than that of the test winner.
In addition to the classic fries, McCain's fluted fries also made it to the top places.
Ökotest and Stiftung Warentest also decided on the best detergents.

The oven fries from Bördegold only received a grade of sufficient.
As Stiftung Warentest stated, these were highly contaminated with glycoalkaloids.
For a sensitive child weighing 30 kilograms, just 225 grams of this can have undesirable health consequences.
Even in adults, 270 grams of fries can cause gastrointestinal problems, writes Stiftung Warentest.
Ökotest also found harmful substances in a product: the Potato Master French Fries from Norma, where chlorpropham was detected.
This is how Stiftung Warentest rated the frozen fries:

As with Stiftung Warentest, Ökotest also relies primarily on sensory testing.
“The frozen fries are tested for taste, appearance and smell by trained testers after they have been optimally prepared,” explained Sara Waldau from Stiftung Warentest to

.
The winner among the frozen fries at Ökotest was also those from Bofrost.
While the oven fries performed rather well overall, the microwave fries were not very well received.
