A
Pampas police officer was found dead
this Tuesday morning in a river in the Calamuchita valley, province of Córdoba, and they are still searching for his companion, who is missing.
The discovery occurred around 10 in the Los Reartes River, in the town of the same name.
The body was seen by a group of people passing by that place, near the bridge in the southern sector, and they notified 911.
The victim was identified as
Diego Iván Lagos, a 37-year-old police officer from Santa Rosa, La Pampa
, who had been camping since last Sunday at the Los Mirlos campsite, in Villa General Belgrano, along with
Laura Carrasco Macedo, a woman from 35 years old
who is presumed to be his partner.
At that campsite they found a Volkswagen Bora vehicle and a tent with their documentation.
The Río Tercero investigative prosecutor's office reported that the causes of the tragedy are still being investigated.
The main hypothesis is that both were surprised by the flooding of the river and could not escape.

The woman, on Tuesday night, was still missing, so a search was carried out along the banks of the river, from the campsite where they were staying to the sector known as La Isla, which is visited by tourists to go bird watching.
The search operation, which covered about six kilometers in length and was carried out by Firefighters and Police personnel, will continue from this Wednesday morning.
In parallel, the desperate search continues in Carlos Paz for a 30-year-old man who this Monday afternoon left his bicycle and threw himself into the mouth of the San Antonio River.

The search is concentrated with tactical divers and a search throughout the San Antonio River area.
As could be reconstructed, witnesses affirm that after 6:30 p.m., the man left his belongings and a bicycle on the side of the bridge, before jumping into the water;
in the middle of the torrent that entered the mouth of Lake San Roque.

A witness managed to record with her camera the moment the man entered the water, but "he
never re-emerged
," according to what she told the police.
The search involves 34 brigade members with tactical divers
and a search throughout the area, according to police spokespersons.
Meanwhile, last Sunday a new drowning death was recorded in the north of Córdoba during this summer of 2024. There,
a 26-year-old young man had left a local festival and decided to bathe in the leveling weir of Villa María del Río Seco
.
The victim was with a group of friends, who alerted authorities when they lost sight of him.
Firefighters rescued him, but could not revive him.
So far this summer season,
about twenty people have already drowned in different tourist destinations in the province of Córdoba
