JairBolsonaro's lawyers have appealed against the seizure of the former Brazilian president's passport and against the ban on him leaving the country.
The measure was authorized by the judge of the federal supreme court, Alexandre de Morais, last week, in the framework of the investigations into the coup attempt of January 8, 2023.
"The absence of clear signals of flight risk, and the transparent and collaborative attitude "by Bolsonaro" make the decision to ban him from leaving the country devoid of objective justification, a measure that "violates fundamental principles of law, such as proportionality and legality", we read in the appeal.
As an alternative to the seizure of the passport, Bolsonaro's lawyers propose the obligation to request authorization every time Bolsonaro wants to leave the country for more than seven days.
