This series is definitely not ready to say goodbye.
Downton Abbey, the hit British series created by Julian Fellowes, is set to return for its seventh season.
This was revealed by the
Daily Mail
on February 13.
A source close to the project told the British tabloid: “Filming started a few weeks ago, but everything is very, very secret.
Some people working on this project have never seen such secrecy.
People working on set have had to sign non-disclosure agreements so as not to reveal anything, but there is a lot of excitement about the return of Downton.”

“I stop saying it’s over”
Still according to the
Daily Mail
, the broadcast of this new season is expected at the end of the year.
No one knows if we will find the much-loved cast of the previous seasons and the two films that followed, but the bosses are apparently “delighted”.
Hugh Bonneville (Lord Grantham), Elizabeth McGovern (Lady Grantham), Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) and the unique Maggie Smith (Lady Crawley) starred in the 6 seasons that made the success of the series upon its release in 2010. After the broadcast of the last episode, in 2015, 2 films followed one another.
The first, released in France on September 25, 2019, was a great success at the box office with revenue of $237.9 million (207 million euros) worldwide.
The second, Downton Abbey 2: A New Era, was released in French cinemas on April 27, 2022.
If this new season of Downton is a surprise, so was the release of the films.
Last December, Julian Fellowes, the creator of the series, nevertheless suggested at the microphone of
Radio Times
that he did not rule out continuing the project.
“I said goodbye to Downton so many times, and I wrote the last scene six or seven times.
Now I stop making declarations that it’s over.”
